Project Bookmark Canada is a Canadian charity that exists to mark the places where the real and imagined landscapes meet. We do this by placing text from stories and poems on poster-sized plaques (which we call “Bookmarks”) and installing them in the exact physical locations where literary scenes are set.
As of summer 2011, there are six Bookmarks around Ontario and four new Bookmarks will be installed in that province in October. The initiative is now at work on developing potential Bookmarks from Vancouver to Gros Morne, building a tribute to literature and Canadian spaces, that will encourage Canadians and visitors to read their way right across the country.
